We
are singers, consultants, lawyers, stay-at-home moms, television producers,
social workers, investment managers and teachers. We work in the entertainment
industry, law firms, corporations and the non-profit sector. We live in places
like Hollywood, Los Angeles, Santa Monica, San Fernando and San Gabriel
valleys, Beverly Hills and some come as far as Orange County. We are men and
women in our 20’s and 30’s. Despite the diversity of personal interests,
professions and places we call home we are brought together by the common goal
of helping Good Shepherd Center for Homeless Women through activities of the
Young Professionals Group (YPG).
The YPG was established in January 2001 and is a membership organization of
young professional men and women. Members are 21-40 years old. The YPG offers
fundraising and volunteer support while also providing members with
professional development and social networking opportunities.
The YPG hosts volunteer and social events throughout the year. Through
fundraising events, individual donations and corporate grants, to date the YPG
has helped raise over $200,000 in support of Good Shepherd Center for Homeless
Women, a non-sectarian program providing mobile outreach, drop-in, emergency
shelter, transitional living and long-term housing services for homeless women
and children in Los Angeles. Since 1984, Good Shepherd Center for Homeless
Women has helped homeless women and their children achieve self-sufficiency and
well-being.
The YPG is governed by an Executive Committee, which meets monthly and includes
YPG members who each serve a one-year term. Executive Committee Chairs work
with subcommittees to implement YPG events and projects.
