In the YPG you will not only find worthwhile volunteer projects in which to participate, but you will also have the opportunity to attend parties held at venues throughout Los Angeles. These events provide a great outlet for members and non-members alike to socialize and come together in support of the YPG and its service to Good Shepherd Center for Homeless Women.

While YPG members enjoy discounted and/or free tickets to all social events, non-members are also welcome. To learn more about upcoming YPG social events, click here. Or, if you would like to get on the YPG email list for these events, click here.

The YPG’s annual Sizzlin’ Summer Shin-Dig held at the Formosa Café in West Hollywood kicks off the summer season with a party on the outdoor patio and under L.A.’s summer sky! Each year men and women gather for the Sizzlin’ Summer Shin-Dig where they enjoy cocktails, an opportunity drawing for fabulous prizes and just some good ol’ summertime fun! In 2003, the YPG will host its 3rd Annual Sizzlin’ Summer Shin-Dig.

In October 2002, the YPG hosted its Harvest Moon Wine Tasting at Mel & Rose, L.A.’s premiere spot for fine wines and spirits. Wine connoisseurs and novices alike enjoyed an afternoon of tasting wines from throughout the Napa Valley region. The Kid & Nic Show provided live music and guests won opportunity drawing prizes including restaurant gift certificates, original artwork, wine packages, private fitness training instruction and holiday gift items. Event attendees also donated blankets, clothes and toiletry items for homeless women served by Good Shepherd Center’s Mobile Outreach Unit.

ANNUAL BENEFIT

Each year YPG hosts a benefit party to raise funds for Good Shepherd Center for Homeless Women and Children. Overseen by the YPG Executive Committee, a subcommittee that includes YPG members and non-members plans the annual benefit.

2005 Annual Benefit "A Return to Classic Hollywood": April 9, 2005

YPG's fourth annual benefit, A Return to Classic Hollywood, generated more than $15,000 for Good Shepherd Center for Homeless Women and Children. Held at the Hollywood Entertainment Museum in the heart of Hollywood, more than 225 guests enjoyed an elegant evening, which included drinks and dinner, Vegas-style games, a highly competitive (and fun!) silent auction, raffle, dancing and several wandering performers including a magician and classic Hollywood impersonators.

Men and women enjoyed the party while remembering its purpose: to assist the homeless of Los Angeles. YPG thanks drink and food contributors including Grey Goose Vodka, In-N-Out Burger, and The Karl Strauss Brewing Company. Additional thanks to Minuteman Press/Glendale for donating all printing services. YPG's fifth annual benefit is scheduled for Spring, 2006.

2004 Annual Benefit "A Bazaar Night": May 15, 2004

The Fashion Theatre at the California Market Center was transformed into a bazaar of fun and philanthropy at "A Bazaar Night," YPG's 3rd annual benefit for Good Shepherd Center for Homeless Women and Children. Belly dancers, jugglers, magicians, henna artists and caricaturists mingled among the crowd showcasing their amazing talents. Guests also enjoyed Las Vegas style games and a silent auction that boasted over 40 fabulous packages of products and gift certificates. Over $11,000 was raised to support services for homeless mothers and their children.

Event contributors included In-N-Out Burger, which provided enough hamburgers, chips and soda to keep everyone smiling! Coffee Culture, Crocodile Cafe, E! Wine Bar & Restaurant, Mi Piace and SOFI Restaurant were also generous contributors. A big thanks to Minuteman Press/Glendale for donating printing services! Thanks to one and all who attended and keep your eyes out for information about our 2005 annual benefit!

2003 Annual Benefit "The Evening"

Under the spirited leadership of YPG Benefit Co-Chairs Colby Fisher and Nicole Keach, YPG presented The Evening on May 10, 2003 at the California Market Center’s Fashion Theatre in Los Angeles. With nearly 300 guests in attendance, The Evening, YPG’s second annual benefit, generated over $17,000 in net income for Good Shepherd Center’s Mother-Child Residence.

The Evening demonstrated how a night out in Los Angeles can translate into good work for those in need. The music of Five Degrees of Soul and magic by James Warren filled the night, while the silent auction offered guests the chance to bid on over 65 packages including items from such companies as American Idol Productions, Bristol Farms, Four Season’s Hotel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills, Philosophy and The Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas to name a few. The Taco Factory, Karl Strauss Breweries, Pepsi Co., Inc. and Peet’s Coffee & Tea donated food and beverages.

2002 Annual Benefit

The YPG’s 1st annual benefit, Shanghai Swing, which was held May 18, 2002 raised approximately $12,500 for Good Shepherd Center for Homeless Women. Over 200 guests enjoyed Chinese fare, open wine and beer bar and live five-piece jazz ensemble in the formal yet funky atmosphere of Inshallah Gallery in downtown Los Angeles.

Corporate sponsors included E & J Gallo Wine, Karl Strauss Breweries and Panda Restaurant Group. An opportunity drawing and silent auction offered products and gift certificates to some of L.A.’s trendiest spots.
