HIKE WITH YPG: Sunday, September 23, 2007 - 4:45 pm
Join YPG and hike part of the Mt. Wilson Trail up to First Water which is roughly 2 miles up and then back. The Mt. Wilson Trail is in Sierra Madre. The hike will include one-third to one-half of the Mt. Wilson Trail and will result in a 4-5 mile round trip. The intensity level is moderate (the trail is virtually straight up then straight down and gains about 2000 feet in roughly 2.5 miles).
Hikers need to bring water and/or a sports drink. Hiking shoes and hiking socks are recommended. The hike will begin early enough so it should remain light for the entire hike including the descent, although hikers may wish to bring a small flash light or headlamp. Hikers should be well hydrated before the hike. The view of the city lights is good in the evening and the trail is very well maintained. Most people will get a good workout from walking this but some people like to run it.
