YOUNG PROFESSIONALS IN EFFECT

The Young Professionals hosted a Sizzlin’ Summer Shin-Dig on June 2, 2001 at the Formosa Café in Hollywood to benefit Good Shepherd Center for Homeless Women and Children. This was the YPG’s first social event!

Fifty young women and men enjoyed a night of cocktails, socializing and learning about GSC. Raffle prizes included lunch for 2 at il Cielo Restaurant in Beverly Hills, a three-day weekend trip to Laughlin, NV and a gift certificate for a cut and color by Angela Austin at Villella Salon in West Hollywood. The event raised over $600! GSC is proud to say that previous GSC grantwriter, Teresa Norland, remains in the family as a volunteer by actively participating in the YPG and raising money for our homeless guests.

Established earlier this year, the YPG brings together talented men and women, ages 20-40, who are dedicated to fulfilling the mission of GSC. While offering additional financial and volunteer support to GSC, the YPG provides great opportunities for professional development and social networking.

Want to get on the YPG mailing list? Want to help plan future events? If you are interested in the YPG or know someone who might be, please contact R. Jennifer Gibbons at 323.661.5509 or funkyjenn@aol.com.

The YPG looks forward to future volunteer projects, a wine tasting event and an art crawl of local art galleries. All events benefit GSC.

So, spread the word! Tomorrow’s Board Presidents are today’s Young Professionals. Many thanks and best of luck Teresa and the YPG. We look forward to more event news from you soon.
